Just today I was reading some of the standardized tests that help psychiatrists diagnose patients, as a tool. Some of the markers listed under sociopaths were that they are arrogant, always right, have no remorse when killing any life form, can look you straight in the eyes and lie convincingly to one and all, and they are all narcissistic and cynical. There are those in the medical community who feel that a sociopath is worse than a psychopath. For example many serial killers are sociopaths. I agree with you that cynicism is a key element of the evil of sociopaths and many psychopaths.
It reminds me of what Luang Phaw Dhammajayo taught us, "There are the following types of people who cannot achieve enlightenment:
1) The dead, 2) The insane,and 3) Those who do not care to.
I can't quite imagine the heavy burden of kamma that these people live with in there minds and hearts.
